Essential Oils for Cuticle Care

Cuticle care are often overlooked. What are they, tho? Cuticle is what commonly known as the dead skin located at the bottom of your finger bed right before where your skin starts. Cuticles serve to protect the growth of new nails from bacteria and infections. Also, the skin that surrounds your cuticle is very delicate and prone to injuries which could potentially cause infections. Therefore, it is important to know how to care for your nails and cuticles.

How to care for your cuticle

When you go down to the nail salon to have your manicures or pedicures done, you will realise that your manicurist does this bizarre thing where-by she starts to clip at your skin. Now that you know what a cuticle is, you will realise that she is actually cutting away the dead skin that resides at the bottom of your nail plate. Now this process called cuticle trimming does not usually hurt as what your manicurist is really doing is just getting rid of skin that’s dry and dead. However, sometimes they may accidentally cut into your proximal fold which is your actual skin that’s well and alive. This may cause you to bleed and it can hurt. When this happens, wash your hands immediately with soap so as to ensure no infections can come of the wound. You’d typically spend anywhere between $30-$60 for a manicure or pedicure on yourself, but what if I tell you that you could trim your own cuticles at home on your own and save a few bucks when you go down to the salon? You can easily learn to trim your cuticles by watching YouTube videos and this could save yourself a good $10-$15.

Trimming and washing of your cuticles is not enough. To ensure a healthy-looking nail, sufficient hydration is necessary. Most peoples’ cuticles are dry and crusty that makes the nails look old and unpleasant. A proper cuticle care could be a game changer. We will be sharing some easy recipes for cuticle care, with ingredients readily available at home.
