• The oils shouldn’t be able to dissolve in water. Avoid oils that are labelled as “Fragrance oil” or “Perfume Oil”. These oils are typically synthetic and do not have the same therapeutic benefits as pure essential oil.

If you are unsure whether an essential oil is pure, you can test it by using the Paper Test. To do this, place a drop of the oil on a piece of white paper and allow it to dry completely (within a day). If you find that the dried oil is surrounded by a leftover ring of oil or grease, it suggests that the oil has likely been diluted with another substance and is less pure. If the page is completely dry and not greasy to the touch, it is very likely that your oil is pure and of a high quality.
